Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, paid an official visit to Malaysia from 23 to 26 September 2013 at the invitation of Tan Sri Admiral Abdul Aziz Jaafar, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
During his visit to Malaysia, Admiral Joshi held discussions with Tan Sri Admiral Abdul Aziz Jaafar on matters of mutual interests and paid courtesy calls on General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia and Admiral Maritime Datuk Mohd Amdan Kurish, Director of MMEA. Discussions were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Royal Malaysian Navy also arranged visits by Admiral DK Joshi to naval bases in other parts of Malaysia.
The visit of Admiral DK Joshi to Malaysia is in furtherance of the long standing defence cooperation and exchanges between India and Malaysia, and will contribute to the strengthening of the Strategic Partnership that was established during the visit of Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh to Malaysia on 27 October 2010.
