AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for non-BIMSTEC countries including Malaysia


 
 The Government of India has announced a scholarship scheme namely “AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for Non-BIMSTEC countries”, to apply for courses in Traditional System of Medicine in India for the 2013-14 academic session. Fifteen slots are available to several countries including Malaysia. Applications will be processed on a fist-come, first-served basis.
 
2. The High Commission of India welcomes applications from Malaysian nationals interested in pursuing courses in Indian Medicine and Yoga, in India, for the academic year 2013-14. Scholarships are provided for the following courses:

Undergraduate courses:
a. Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS): 5 ½ year degree including 1 year mandatory clinical training; Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, & Biology).
b. Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS): 5 ½ year degree including 1 year mandatory clinical training; Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, & Biology).
c. Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS): 5 ½ year degree including 1 year mandatory clinical training; Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, & Biology).
d. Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS): 5 ½ year degree including 1 year mandatory clinical training; Eligibility: 12 years of schooling with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, & Biology).
e. Bachelor of Science in Yoga: 3 year course; Eligibility: 12 years of schooling.
 
Postgraduate courses:
f. M.D. Ayurveda: 3 year course; Eligibility: BAMS degree recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
g. M.D. Siddha: 3 year course; Eligibility: BSMS degree recognized by CCIM.
h. M.D. Unani: 3 year course; Eligibility: BUMS degree recognized by CCIM.
i. M.D. Homeopathy: 3 year course; Eligibility: BHMS degree recognized by Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH).
 
Ph.D. courses:
j. Ph.D. in Ayurveda: 3 year course; Eligibility: M.D. Ayurveda degree recognized by CCIM.
 
3. Prospective students should do due diligence & research on the specific admission criteria laid down by the various Universities for each subject, and ensure that they submit all relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form.
 
4. The candidates should meet the following selection criteria: (i) the candidate should have the eligibility to apply for the course (ii) should be proficient in English and (iii) should not have any serious health problems.
 
5. The eligible qualifications for the Bachelors courses are given below:
a. STPM
b. A Levels
c. South Australian Matriculation (SAM) [2 years SAM after SPM]
d. Canadian Pre-University (CPU) [2 years CPU after SPM]
e. International Baccalaureate (IB)
f. Or other qualifications which are equivalent to 12th standard in India.
 
6. In addition to having any of the above mentioned qualifications, the candidates should have taken the following compulsory subjects at the qualifying examination level: Physics, Chemistry, & Biology, with minimum 50% marks in each subject, in order to be eligible to apply for the Bachelor courses in Traditional System of Medicine in India. For Bachelor of Science in Yoga 12th standard equivalent is sufficient for applying.
 
7. The minimum age to apply for these courses is 17 years, as on 1st October in the year of admission.
 
8. The scholarship provides for Tuition fee, Living Allowance, Contingent Grant, House rent Allowance and Medical benefits (no airfare is provided).
 
9. Interested candidates may fill-in the application form and submit to the Education Wing, High Commission of India, , , Mon', .
