High Commission of India, Press Release The Nalanda University at Rajgir (Bihar) announces commencement of admissions for all courses for the academic year 2016-17, details of which may kindly be obtained from http://admissions.nalandauniv.edu.in Nalanda University was established atRajgir, Bihar (India) in November, 2010 as an international institution of academic excellence under an Act of Parliament. The University is mandated to be "an international institution for the pursuit of intellectual, philosophical,historical and spiritual studies". Administered bythe Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, it was formally inaugurated by the External Affairs Ministeron 19 September 2014. The University has been designated as an "institution of national importance". The particular emphasis of this university, an emphasis which sets it apart from all other existing universities in the region, is its foundational philosophy. The University is envisaged as an icon of the new Asian renaissance: a creative space that will be for future generations a centre of inter- civilizational dialogue. The two Schools of studies, i.e. School of Historical Studies (SHS) and School of Ecology and Environment Studies(SEES) have already started functioning. The third School of Studies - School of Buddhist studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions University is beingintroduced in 2016-17. The School of Historical Studies (SHS) and The School of Ecology and Environment Studies (SEES) have also established connections for collaborative research links with the followinginstitutions around the world:
